One of Finland’s key partners in EXPO 2020 Dubai

Finland brings innovative business solutions to Expo 2020 Dubai together with Finnish companies, including Black Donuts Engineering as one of the key partners. For Black Donuts, the partnership means a highly visible presence in an attractive market.

From October 2020 to April 2021, Dubai will host the next World Expo, the first one hosted in the Middle East. The main theme of the exhibition is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, promising a platform for international partnerships to take shape. Finland will participate in the World Expo 2020 in Dubai with her own pavilion, showcasing the country’s expertise across various business sectors including sustainability and technology. The Finnish participation is organized by Business Finland and Black Donuts Engineering is one of the key company representatives.

For Black Donuts, the Gulf region represents a particularly attractive market with no existing tire industry. Due to the absence of domestic tire production, the tire market of the Middle Eastern countries has been strongly import-driven.

One such country is Saudi Arabia. Despite being one of the largest markets for car tires, the country lacks in its own tire production. Yet, the situation will change in 2020, as the first Saudi Arabian tire plant – also one of the biggest and most modern tire factories in the world, rated at 16 million car tires and 6 million TBR tires a year – is expected to begin production. Black Donuts has supplied full design for the new, highly automated factory, and an exclusive agreement has been made on the product design and development for car and TBR tires. For Black Donuts, the massive project will not be the last of its kind in the region.

– There is a strong preference in the Middle Eastern countries for starting and supporting local production of tires. Black Donuts is a valued partner for new investors because we can provide a complete solution that extends from designing modern, intelligent tire factories to high-quality end products, Pekkola says.

In Expo 2020 Dubai, the Finland pavilion “Snow Cape” will be an impressive tribute to the land of a thousand lakes: its fresh air, pure water, green forests, clean energy, and clean technology. Inspired by the white blanket of snow which covers the Finnish landscape in winter, the Finland Pavilion provides a cool shaded refuge for making connections and sharing innovative competencies.

A World Expo is a large international exhibition designed to highlight the achievements of nations, to promote their innovations and progress, as well as educate and entertain visitors. The first World Expo took place in London in 1851. The most recent international exhibition, Expo 2017, was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Now the excitement builds towards the next World Expo in Dubai in 2020. The organizers expect to attract over 25 million visitors, of which 70 percent could come from outside the UAE.
